High West Introduces ‘American Prairie Reserve’ Whiskey (July 23, 2012)

HIGH WEST INTRODUCES ‘AMERICAN PRAIRIE RESERVE’ WHISKEY

10% of profits will be donated to a land-conservation effort in Montana

PARK CITY, UTAH (July 23, 2012) — High West Distillery, Utah’s first legal distillery since 1870, is proud to announce its newest whiskey, American Prairie Reserve Bourbon, created to raise awareness for one of the most fantastic projects of our time, an effort to assemble the largest wildlife reserve in the lower 48 states – American Prairie Reserve in Montana.

“High West is passionate about the American West, our home, and more importantly we want to help preserve its culture, heritage, and natural beauty,” said David Perkins, Proprietor of High West. “We really believe in the mission of American Prairie Reserve and wanted to contribute by raising awareness as well as donating 10% of after-tax profits from the sale of every bottle to the Reserve.”

American Prairie Reserve was started in 2001 and will protect more than 5,000 square miles of open space on the Great Plains of northeastern Montana – an area roughly the size of Connecticut.  When the Reserve is complete, the landscape will look much the way it did when Lewis and Clark first stepped foot on the American frontier with thundering herds of bison, racing bands of pronghorn antelope, and prairie-dog towns dotting the horizon, as far as the eye can see.  The front label will highlight the endangered animals that call the American prairie home.  Batch 1 features the Greater Sage Grouse.  Habitat destruction has led to steep declines in Sage Grouse populations across the West and the species is now a candidate for Endangered Species Act protection.

High West American Prairie Reserve Bourbon is a blend of premium bourbons, a six-year-old and a 10-year-old.  It is a delicious marriage of vanilla, caramel, blood oranges and dark cherries with long, sweet and satisfying honey nougat finish.

American Prairie Reserve Bourbon can be purchased at the High West General Store starting Monday July 23rd for $39.99.  To learn more about High West Distillery and Saloon, contact Christa Graff, of Graff Public Relations, LLC, at 435-640-7921 or christa@graffpr.com.
