Mat comes to High West with 30 years' experience in the wine and spirits business. Like David Perkins, Mat was raised in Georgia where he developed his passion for American whiskey. His experience truly covers all tiers of the industry, with career achievements that are international in scope and well-documented in many industry publications. Perhaps best-known as the owner and winemaker of California's Garretson Wine Company, Mat hung up his winemaking spurs and moved to Minnesota (his wife's hometown) for the quieter life of a wine and spirits' wholesaler. It was in this capacity that Mat and David reconnected, and it wasn't long before David asked Mat to join the High West team. Mat's responsibilities include managing our sales and marketing efforts both nationally and abroad, and overseeing our team of exceptional regional managers.
